TO RUN FOR A DEMOCRATIC COUNTY CENTRAL COMMITTEE SEAT,
YOU MUST GO TO YOUR COUNTY’S ELECTION DIVISION [ex. SAN MATEO
COUNTY] OR YOUR VOTER REGISTRAR’S OFFICE [ ex. SAN FRANCISCO] TO
COMPLETE THE PROPER FORM(S).
THERE IS NO REGISTRATION FEE.
YOU MUST BE A REGISTERED “DEMOCRAT” AND LIVE IN THE COUNTY
WHERE YOU ARE FILING YOUR PAPERS IN ORDER TO HOLD A DCCC
SEAT IN THAT COUNTY.

How To Run for DCC In 6 Steps
1. Go to the Elections Office at 40 Tower Road in San Mateo to sign the necessary forms and obtain nomination papers. You can schedule an appointment (312-5222) or just walk in.
2. Obtain at least 20 signatures on your nomination papers from registered Democrats in your supervisorial district.
3. Return your completed nomination papers to the Elections Office by due date.
4. If more candidates have returned completed nomination papers than there are DCC seats open in your supervisorial district (either 4 or 5 seats depending on the district), you will be on the June 3 primary election ballot received by all registered Democrats in your supervisorial district. Make sure all your local Democrats vote for you!
5. If the same number or fewer people return completed nomination papers than there are DCC seats open in your supervisorial district, you will be automatically appointed in lieu of election. You will not appear on the June 3 ballot.
Rights of Elected SMCDCC Members
Elected SMCDCC members may:
1. Vote on endorsements made by the County and State Democratic parties, including for statewide, legislative, and local offices, and state and local measures.
2. Vote on resolutions before the County and State Democratic Parties.
3. Attend the annual State Democratic Conventions as a delegate.
